Below are the required steps for application and consideration for the Electrical Apprenticeship Program.

Each step must be completed before moving to the next step. 

   
Step 1: Application

Applications can be obtained in person at Gainesville Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee D/B/A, Electrical Training Alliance of Gainesville or by clicking on the Apprenticeship Application link at the bottom of the page (you will need to download and print a copy to complete in either blue or black ink).  Included with the Application is also a Supplemental Information Form and a Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability Disclosure Form.

Applications CANNOT be submitted online. Applications can be either be sent via US Mail to PO BOX 5428, Gainesville, FL 32627 or submitted in person Monday - Friday between the hours of 9:00am until 11:30am and 1:00pm until 4:00pm.

The following documents are required to complete the application process and should be brought with you when you visit the office or should be mailed in with your completed application.

Each applicant must complete an application form, accurately responding to all questions and items, including statements indicating that they are:

•    physically and mentally able to safely perform or learn to safely perform essential functions of the job either with or without reasonable accommodation.
•    able to get to and from work at job sites anywhere within the geographical area that this apprenticeship program covers.
•    able and willing to attend all related classroom training as required to complete their apprenticeship.
•    able to climb and work from ladders, scaffolds, poles and towers of various heights.
•    able to crawl and work in confined spaces such as attics, manholes and crawlspaces.
•    able to read, hear and understand instructions and warnings.

Required Documents to be Submitted at Time of Application:
•           Valid Driver’s License or State ID
•           Social Security Card
•           Birth Certificate
•           High School Diploma or GED, or have a two-year Associates Degree or higher.
•           Official Sealed Transcripts.  Must have successfully completed one full credit in high school algebra with a passing grade, or one post high school algebra course (e.g., Adult Education, Continuing Education, Community College, etc.) with a passing grade; or provide evidence of the successful completion of the electrical training ALLIANCE Tech Math Course.

Additional Information (if applicable)
•           Proof of Military Experience (DD214), if you are a veteran and wish to receive consideration for prior electrical experience
•           Vocational Transcripts
•           Letter of Electrical Experience
•           Referral Letters

Please be advised there is a $25.00 non-refundable processing fee due at the time of application.

Applications are accepted year round.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       

The application deadline for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year is May 1, 2025.

All applications submitted after May 1, 2025, will be considered for the 2026-2027 school year.

Step 2: Aptitude Test

Once your application is reviewed, you will be scheduled to take the Electrical Training Alliance Aptitude Test. This test covers both Math and Reading Comprehension and scores between 1 - 9. A qualifying score of 3 or higher must be attained in order to qualify for the program and the next step, your interview.  If you do not receive a qualifying score on your first attempt, then you must wait a full three (3) months before you can retake the test.

Step 3: Interview

All qualified applicants are then afforded an oral interview and scored by the program's committee members. Committee interviews take place once a year (typically in June), depending on the volume of applicants to be interviewed.  Based on interview performance, all applicants are placed on a ranking list.  Applicants are then accepted into Apprenticeship programs based on their placement on the ranking list.

Step 4: Accepted Applicants

Only those applicants accepted into the Apprenticeship program will receive a letter from the Gainesville Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC) (D/B/A Electrical Training Alliance of Gainesville) informing them of the decision.  All applicants not selected will remain on the ranking list for possible selection into the program for two years before needing to re-apply.
